> 5th Annual Indaba an Overwhelming Success
Indaba 2006 with Arthur Mashiatshidi of Decorum Capital Partners The Chamber's 5th annual Indaba dinner was an overwhelming success on September 21 in Toronto. Robert Franklin, past Chairman of Placer Dome (and current Barrick Board Member) was the winner of the Inaugural Canada-South Africa Chamber of Business Person of the Year Award, sponsored by Tau Capital. A cheque of $2,500 was presented to Henry Blumberg for the Universary of Cape Town Bursary Fund. Our keynote speaker Arthur Mashiatshidi, Chief Executive of Decorum Capital Partners delivered an excellent overview on South and Southern Africa and the development that is taking place there.
While in Canada , Arthur learned that his consortium had been successful in their bid for the Victoria and Alfred waterfront (the Cape Town Dock property) for approximately R7.4 billion. This property is the prime piece of real estate in Africa. Good luck Arthur!
