Justice Sachs, is an internationally renowned constitutional legal scholar, a highly acclaimed author and professor of law at universities in South Africa, England and the United States. As a political and human rights activist under the old South African Apartheid Regime Justice Sachs was imprisoned twice without trial. Since he was regarded a threat to the Apartheid government, he nearly lost his life in a car bomb attack. May 29th will be a rare opportunity to hear this extraordinary individual. Justice Sachs will be introduced by South Africas High Commissioner. A substantial portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Constitutional Court Artworks Programme in South Africa, a project that Justice Sachs is driving. On a beautiful lazy Sunday June 23rd, 2002 afternoon, the South African Wine Society (SAWS) and the Canada-South Africa Chamber of Business celebrated the SAWS 9th Annual Summer Braai at Marios farm by sitting under beautiful trees sipping wine. Those who attended had the opportunity to enjoy some succulent traditional South African Braai fare. The food and wine was enjoyed in the company of others. This event gave everyone a great opportunity to meet new people and make new friends. The Canada-South Africa Chamber of Business looks forward to join SAWS again next year.
